Thule 630 Ranger 90 Rooftop Cargo Bag (Rack Mounted)- I bought this along with Thule RB47 Rapid Aero Aluminum Roof Rack Load Bars (47-Inch, Set of 2) to go atop my 2009 VW Jetta Sportwagen. After the initial setup for your particular vehicle, this bag can be on the roof and ready to load in under 5 minutes. Durability seems good after a 1500-mile trip. Rain was part of the travels, and nothing got wet on the inside. When you're done with your trip, just roll it up and put it in the included storage bag!

The package arrived in the original manufacturer's packaging without any damage. For the first setup on your car, you'll need to position the bag on your rack so the angle of attack is right, then use the quick clamps to lock it to the bar. There are multiple positions the clamps can go in so a variety of racks can be accommodated. Once you decide which position you'll use, you cover the remaining position holes with the included adhesive hole covers. I'd suspect that sporadic reports on other sites of water getting in the bag are related to not covering the unused position holes.
The bag material is very thick and heavy-duty, the zippers are very sturdy and for the first couple of uses, somewhat stiff. A heavy weather flap covers the zipper. The zipper goes down the side towards the rear, across, then back up the other side. Flip the top of the bag open over the windshield and load it up! Once loaded, additional integrated straps on the exterior allow you to tighten the bag down to fit the contents.
Because of the clamp quick attachments protruding vertically a couple of inches inside the bag, you'll find that using standard suitcases sized to fit the width of the bag won't fit. Standard or other rigid luggage will have to be sized to fit between the clamps. Thule sells duffle-type bags custom-sized to fit this roof box in the UK, but they do not appear to be available in the US. We are going to buy low-cost, squared-profile duffel bags to pack for our next trip -- the soft bags will allow putting the bags right atop the quick clamps.
Once you've finished with your bag, you can have it removed in less than a minute. Roll it, put it in the storage bag, then hide it away until next time!
