This is a great cargo box. It's light, sturdy, has tons of room, is easy to attach, and looks great. The only down side for me has been the fact that it does not fit my vehicle (2009 Honda Pilot). Thule's website says it fits, but the rear hatch door will not open fully with this box installed as far forward on the vehicle as possible. I'm just going to live with it because I need the space, but it should not be listed as a fit for my vehicle.

Purchased this for a recent trip. Unit held 5 duffel bags, soft tackle box and some other gear including life jackets. Attaches to the roof bars easily. Stayed tight the entire trip; left it on unloaded. Clamps close tightly on the roof bars from each side. Minimal wind noise and unoticed impact to gas mileage. Used it on a Ford Expediton.



I did find it hard to lock when filled. Required two people to hold the top down to ensure all locking points engaged; probably becuase of the amount of stuff loaded. Can be installed with two people and does not weight much though it is a bit awkward to get on top of the truck. This was not unexpected. Unit opens from either side but be careful to lock one side before opening the other, otherwise the hinges get out of position.



An improvement would be to add internal hook points for a cargo net or bungee cords. The straps provided for the unit are only useful for long items such as skis and I did not use them.



A bit pricey but seems well made.

We purchased the 1600 a few years ago and have been amazed at how useful it is for storing our belongings for long road trips. The box is durable and yet light weight. We had one problem with one of the four cradles that the box sits on where it cracked and fell off. I contacted Thule and at no cost they sent me new and improved cradles. I was able to install them in a snap. I highly recommend this product.

This size works well with my Acura MDX, it's very easy to install and comes with keys that will not remove unless locked (which is a great design). I was hoping for a little larger storage inside the box, but it's ok.

Very good for expanding your interior space especially for camping gear. Sturdy and easy to mount. Items need to be placed perfectly by weight to avoid distortion which makes it hard to close. Even when closed the nose or front of the unit was not sealed and if rain or too much air got in there it caused the top to lift and the gear to get wet. I tried everything I could to even the weight out and spread the heavy items to the middle but there was still a gap in the front and it lifted when going down the highway @ 70MPH. I fixed it by drilling a small 1/8 inch hole in the front lip between the top lid and the bottom and routed a bungee hook through it. This sealed the box and I had no more issues. This is very sturdy and well built! You will have it for years. The lock on it is great! Unique design allows you to open it from either side. I found it VERY difficult to lift heavy items into it and position them by standing in the doorway of the car. I recommend the wheel stand you can buy which is a platform that attaches to the tire and allows you to stand higher then you would loading in the doorway. If your 6ft you wont have a problem. Overall very nice product but pricey! So well built you will have it for years. Storing it is another thing!

If you have a large family and are going on more than a couple hour trip, this product is great. We have a Toyota Sienna and the Thule attached easily and securely to the factory installed roof rack. You can't put a lot of weight in it, but for the bulkier, less heavy items, it's great. There is little to no drag or noise, even when driving on the highway.

We bought this cargo box after reading reviews of people who bought smaller sizes and wished for more room. Yes, it is more expensive, but it has all the room we need for our growing family, and is durable enough that I can easily see it outlasting our vehicle. It is light weight, but I wouldn't call it fragile. The only scenario I can imagine it cracking is through abuse, like someone stepping right on the middle of it or something.



There is a huge amount of space. It has pretty much the same footprint as our three-cushion sofa. I worried that it would protrude off the front badly on our Kia Sedona, but it fits nicely and looks like it belongs there. It's unobtrusive enough that we don't mind just leaving it on there if it's only a couple weeks until the next trip. We borrowed a fabric cargo bag previously, which we always took off when unpacking at our destination because inevitably a strap end would come loose and bang all over the place. This cargo box has no such issues.



Installation was a snap. It took under 10 minutes, including installing the crossbars on our roof rack, which weren't included. Compared to the fabric cargo bag we used previously, this is easier to install, holds more, and is easier to load. The hinges which let you open it from either side are ingenious. It's a little awkward off the car, but feels as natural while on the car as opening a hatch back. Unlike some other models I've read reviews for, this one came fully assembled. Despite its size, it is light enough I could probably put it on the roof myself if necessary, but with my wife helping to lift it, it was very easy.



It rains frequently here, and we haven't had any problems with leaks, but we haven't tested it in rain at freeway speeds yet.

My Atlantis 2100 arrived in a slightly dented cardboard box. There were no labels on the outside indicating the contents are fragile. I opened the box and quickly spotted an 18 inch crack on the top rendering the item useless. Since this thing is so large, the normal return channel doesn't work. UPS won't pick up a box this large. The packing of this item is really insufficient - No "handle with care" of "fragile" labels and no padding inside. The shipping gorillas just throw it around. It's probably a top notch product (which is why I gave it 5 stars), but I never got to try it out because of the poor shipping process. I'm still trying to get it returned.
